02-18-2017 Road Closures and Detours – 906 Polar Roll
February 17, 2017
Many of you are probably wondering why there are so many barricades out along Division, Pearl, and Hematite. Well, this Saturday, February 18, 2017, the City of Ishpeming is proudly hosting the third annual 906 Polar Roll Presented by 45nrth. Racers will ride 15-30+ miles of groomed single track bike trails maintained by our local Range Mountain Bike Club-RAMBA.
Planned detours and road closures are as follows:
*3RD Street will be closed (from Hematite to Pearl) between 9:00AM-4:00PM~. This closure will not affect the intersection at Hematite and Third.
*Pearl Street (N. 2nd to S. 4th) will be closed from 6:00AM to 4:00PM~.
*S. 4TH Street will be closed (from Pearl to Division Street) from 6:00AM to 9:30AM~.
*Division Street will be closed (from S. 2ND to S. 7TH) from 7:55AM to 8:30AM~.
*Jasper and Hill Street will be closed between 8:00-8:45AM~. Vehicles will be unable to access the streets for brief periods of time as 300+ snowbikers pass through Cleveland Location.
We kindly ask all residents and racers to avoid parking on S. 4TH Street and Pearl Street on Saturday. “Short Race” bikers will depart from Division Street at 8:00 a.m. with “Long Race” riders to follow at 8:15 a.m. We anticipate that athletes will finish in downtown Ishpeming (at 3rd and E. Pearl St) between 10:15am-3:00pm. We encourage everyone to spectate and welcome competitors! Best of luck to all involved! Thank you all City residents for your cooperation!
If snowbiking isn’t your thing, you can always watch the SuperTour Nordic Ski Race happening this weekend at the Al Quaal Recreation Area, or the The UP200, Midnight Run, and Jack Pine 30 in neighboring Marquette. There are a lot of opportunities in the greater Ishpeming area to enjoy the “winter” weather this weekend!
