Parks and Recreation Commission
On September 25, 1972, under 1917 Public Act 156, the City of Ishpeming appointed a Parks and Recreation Commission. The Commission is a 7 member advisory board to the City Council and City Manager regarding the operation and maintenance of all park and recreation areas within the City. The Commission includes representatives from the Ishpeming City Council, Ishpeming High School, and other community members. The Commission meets on a regular basis to formulate initiatives for the City’s recreational programs and parks system, to provide oversight for these areas, and to review and recommend changes to the Recreation Plan.

2024 Meeting Schedule
The Parks and Recreation Commission meets the third Tuesday of every other month beginning in February. Meetings are held at the Al Quaal Lodge and begin promptly at 4:00 p.m.
