Notice of Empire Street Construction Project
The City of Ishpeming has contracted with A. Lindberg and Sons, Inc. to improve your streets beginning on May 9th. Work is scheduled to be complete in the middle of July.
This project includes work on watermain, and reconstruction of the roadway and paving. We will provide a notification with more specific details for utility interruptions as they are scheduled. This work will require the closure of Empire St. for a vast majority of the project duration. We will attempt to maintain both vehicular and pedestrian traffic to the maximum feasible extent with temporary roadways. If you will require special accommodations, please contact our jobsite superintendent listed on the bottom of this page.
We request that residents use alternate routes of access to home via side streets in the area.
The one-way street access on Main St from Empire to East North Street will be removed to allow for two-way traffic in this area for residents to access their homes during construction.
The one-way street access on North First Street from Empire Street to East North Street will also be removed to allow for two-way traffic in this area for residents to access their homes during construction.
When watermain work is being performed it will be necessary to hook up temporary water lines to your house. We will either connect to lawn spigots, or in your basement if needed. The existing waterline will also be turned off at this time.
Crews will be working 7 am – 5 pm on weekdays, with potential work on Saturdays if the schedule requires. If you are within the active work zone please heed notices regarding parking, mailbox relocation, garbage collection, and access. Please be aware that this type of construction will generate a certain amount of noise, vibration, and dust. We will be taking steps to reduce this as feasible.
We understand that this may be a short-term inconvenience and we hope to work together with you in a professional and amicable manner for the long-term improvement of your neighborhood.
You will begin to see utility companies placing paint and small flags in your yard. Please do not remove or alter these marks for the duration of the project. If you have any private utilities such as underground dog fences or irrigation systems, please notify our crew.
At the conclusion of the curb and concrete work we will restore the area behind and around the concrete, including lawn restoration.
