Chairman Tom Kelly Stars in Hayward, Wisconsin
Tom Kelly and Frances Wise
Hall of Fame Chairman, Tom Kelly, spoke to a large audience in Hayward, Wisconsin on Wednesday August 12 about the history of its famous American Birkebeiner ski event and the man who started it, Tony Wise.
Mr. Wise would eventually be inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame because of his success in developing skiing in the area and especially this event which is the largest cross country race in the country, attracting thousands of skiers every February.
Tom Kelly is the Vice President of Communications for the USSA but is also well known for his love and interest in the history of skiing and his skill as a photographer. A Tony Wise Museum is being created in Hayward and a reception was held there following his speech.
