POLICE OFFICER

The City of Ishpeming Police Department is seeking a self-motivated and conscientious individual to serve as a temporary Patrol Officer for a period not-to-exceed 3 years. This position may be converted to permanent, without competition, should a vacancy occur during this timeframe.

As Patrol Officer, responsibilities include providing police services to the City of Ishpeming in accordance with State, Federal, and local laws.

To be qualified applicant must be:

  • MCOLES certifiable
  • At a minimum, possess a high school diploma – a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field is preferred.
  • A valid Michigan driver’s license

Please expect oral interviews, extensive background investigation, and physical and psychological examinations during the testing process.

ASSISTANT FOREMAN – CHIEF MECHANIC

The City of Ishpeming is accepting applications for an Assistant Foreman -Chief Mechanic in the Department of Public Works.  Work is assigned and supervised by the DPW General Foreman.  Desirable qualifications include five or more years of progressively more responsible experience in automotive, heavy duty including diesel motors and a minimum of two years’ experience independently operating as a mechanic in either small engine repair or a light/heavy equipment mechanic.  Experience with fleet management; and a vast knowledge of shop tools, modern practices, and procedures is also desired.  A valid State of Michigan driver’s license with a CDL endorsement, or ability to obtain a CDL within 45 days of hire and an excellent driving record.  Starting hourly wage of $24.48 and includes benefits.

The City of Ishpeming is seeking applicants for (2) two full-time Account Clerk Positions at City Hall.   Starting salary is $18.60/hour, reaching full position wage in 18 months and also includes a benefit package.   Strong customer services and computer skills are required. Some duties include assisting with accounts payable, payroll, cash receipting, posting payments, customer inquiries and complaints; processing work orders, maintaining rental calendars, and providing direct support to DPW and the City Finance Office.

PART-TIME SUMMER LABORERS

The City of Ishpeming is seeking college students interested in working part time at the Ishpeming Cemetery and Parks.  The hours are primarily 7:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, however, hours may vary and could include some weekend hours. Wage is $12.00/hour.
