DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
The City of Ishpeming is accepting applications for the position of Department of Public Works Director, responsible for managing the Public Works Department, including streets, water, sewer, cemetery, parks, facilities, equipment, and public relations. The Director oversees 18 full-time and approximately 10 seasonal employees, serves as liaison to regional utility and wastewater authorities, provides staff support to the Cemetery Board and Parks and Recreation Commission, and works under the general direction of the City Manager. This is a union position with a salary range of 82,269 to 102,837 dollars.
Required qualifications include a minimum of six years of increasingly responsible experience in public works or commercial construction work, strong management and leadership skills, a Michigan Vehicle Operator License, and an S-2 Water Distribution License (or ability to attain within six months), a demonstrated work ethic, and a high level of integrity. Desirable qualifications include a four-year degree in civil engineering or a related field and previous experience working in municipal government. PART-TIME BEAUTIFICATION GARDEN CARETAKER
The City of Ishpeming is taking applications for a part-time Beautification Garden Caretaker. The position pays $15.00 per hour and is up to 25 hours per week, June through September.
Duties include mainly watering hanging flower baskets at various locations within the City using a truck mounted watering system provided by the City. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to safely drive a pickup (with watering system) in City traffic and be able to lift watering wand and complete watering tasks every week. Schedule can be flexible.
