POSITION OF CITY MANAGER

The City of Ishpeming, Michigan located in the central Upper Peninsula is accepting applications for the position of City Manager.  The selected candidate would supervise a full-service city and oversee through department heads, a police, fire, public works, library, and parks and recreation departments as well as all city hall functions.  Ishpeming currently employs 35 full-time and 35 part-time employees plus seasonal employees.  The manager reports to a five person City Council elected in a non-partisan setting.  The position offers a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and a comprehensive benefit package.

The successful candidate must possess good analytical, management, communication and municipal finance skills.  They must have demonstrated good leadership qualities and have demonstrated strong personnel/union, budget/finance, public works, and grant writing skills.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business, engineering or related field.  Candidates should possess a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government in a supervisory, management or administrative position.

PART-TIME OFFICE ASSISTANT

The City of Ishpeming is taking applications for a part-time Front Office Assistant position at  Ishpeming City Hall.  Customer service experience, cash handling, along with computer skills and the ability to work independently are required.  The position is approximately 25 hours per week.  Starting salary is $10.50 per hour. PART-TIME DEPUTY TREASURER

The City of Ishpeming is taking applications for a part-time Deputy Treasurer position at the Ishpeming City Hall.  Seeking a self-motivated individual with cash handling experience, customer service experience, data entry and computer skills, and experience in an office setting.  The position is 25 hours per week at a starting wage of $11.00/per hour.  To apply, submit a cover letter, resume, and a City of Ishpeming job application form (available at City Hall or through the City of Ishpeming’s website) to the City Manager’s Office, 100 E. CODE ENFORCEMENT/ASSISTANT RENTAL INSPECTOR

The City of Ishpeming is seeking a self-motivated and conscientious individual to serve as Code Enforcement/Assistant Rental Inspector.  This position is responsible for the enforcement of Code Violations and to assist the Rental Inspector in the inspection of residential rental dwelling units in the City of Ishpeming.  Specific Ordinances to enforce are #2-700, #4-500, and #7-100.  Also assisting the Rental Inspector with enforcement of its ordinance #7-400 and #7-500, within the City.  The position is part-time with approximately 15-20 hours per week.

Preferred experience with enforcement of civil and misdemeanor ordinances, building codes, and building/construction.  The position works under the direction of the Chief of Police.
