ASSISTANT FOREMAN – CHIEF MECHANIC

The City of Ishpeming is accepting application for an Assistant Foreman-Chief Mechanic position in the Department of Public Works.  Desirable qualifications include five or more years of progressively more responsible experience in automotive, heavy duty including diesel motors and a minimum of two years’ experience independently operating as a mechanic in either small engine repair or a light/heavy equipment mechanic.  Experience with fleet management; and a vast knowledge of shop tools, modern practices, and procedures is also desired.  A valid State of Michigan driver’s license with a CDL endorsement, or ability to obtain a CDL within 45 days of hire, and an excellent driving record is required. The starting hourly wage is $26.73/hour and includes a benefit package.
