Public Announcement: Construction Update and Community Appreciation

The City of Ishpeming understands that this construction season has been challenging for residents, drivers, and businesses. We sincerely thank you for your continued patience.
Many of the recent projects have taken longer than anticipated because contractors have been working with very old underground infrastructure. In some locations, the water, sewer, and storm systems date back decades, and detailed records of what’s in the ground are not always available. Crews often uncover unforeseen conditions that must be safely addressed before moving forward.
In addition, these utility systems must be replaced in phases. Contractors need to complete work on water lines before moving on to sewer and storm systems, which means the same streets may be reopened multiple times during the process.
These improvements are essential investments in Ishpeming’s future. Updating our underground systems today will reduce emergency repairs, improve service reliability, and strengthen our city’s infrastructure for years to come.
