City of Ishpeming – Reminder of Election Precinct Change
May 1, 2026
REMINDER OF ELECTION PRECINCT CHANGE
Recent changes to State law raised the number of registered voters residing in a single election precinct in Michigan from 2,999 to 4,999 voters. The Ishpeming City Election Commission met on December 10, 2025 to discuss and vote on MCL 168.661 (precinct size) and MCL 168.662 (precinct location) and voted on and approved to consolidate our two precincts into one.
On December 17, 2025, the Ishpeming City Council approved the Resolution to consolidate the precincts and establish one Precinct Location at KD Hall, 326 Pine Street in Ishpeming, MI. Voting will take place in the Gymnasium with an entrance on Pine Street or the entrance from the parking lot off Main Street.
These changes are effective immediately. The next election that will be held in the City of Ishpeming is the State Primary on August 4, 2026. All voters were sent a new voter ID card in the mail from the City of Ishpeming. Precinct voting hours (7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.), Absentee Voting and 9 Day Early In-Person Voting at the Negaunee Township Hall located at 42 East M-35 in Negaunee will remain the same.
Please contact Cathy Smith, City Clerk, with any questions either by phone 906-485-1091, Ext. 203 or at City Hall, 100 E. Division Street, Ishpeming.
